Professor Seo Kyung-duk Criticizes Lee Sun-kyun, “His Drug Scandal Stained The Reputation Of ‘Parasite’”

Professor Seo Kyung-duk expressed disappointment in Lee Sun-kyun and asked all Hallyu stars to be alert

On October 30th, Seo Kyung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women’s University, said, “While having a coffee recently, I had a discussion with a foreign journalist living in Korea on ‘Hallyu stars’ drug crisis’, which has recently become a big controversy”. Showing a capture of the journalist’s report on Lee Sun-kyun’s Drug Scandal, the professor said, “Numerous foreign media outlets, including those in the US, UK, Japan, China and Singapore, have already published articles regarding the drug scandal this time”.

Professor Seo continued, “The incident left a stain on the reputation of ‘Parasite’, a masterpiece that opened a new way in Korean film history and is known as Korea’s pride around the world”, adding “In particular, such an unsavory incident has tarnished the image of K-content, which is expanding rapidly and drawing keen attention around the world”, criticizing Lee Sun-kyun, who emerged as a global star after appearing in “Parasite”.

Lastly, Professor Seo Kyung-duk advised, “The global impact of K-content can continue to spread more widely in the future”, adding “In order to make that happen, all Hallyu stars must recognize this huge incident as a basic moral lesson”.

Meanwhile, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency is investigating Lee Sun-kyun on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.  The actor is accused of having taken drugs, such as marijuana and psychotropic drugs, at the residence of Gangnam hostess bar director A.

Lee Sun-kyun attended the Incheon Nohyeon Police Station on the 28th for questioning. In addition, the police also booked G-Dragon on drug charges. However, the male singer denied all the drug allegations.
