“Practicing e-cigarettes, shocking parents”…Lim Ji Yeon → Jung Eun Ji, hidden difficulties behind smoking scenes

When non-smokers smoke against their will, they have no choice but to suffer. Nevertheless, there are actresses who created realistic smoking scenes by mobilizing e-cigarettes and herbal cigarettes for just one scene. Let’s take a look at their hidden difficulties.

# “The Glory” Lim Ji Yeon

Lim Ji Yeon, who played Park Yeon Jin, a perpetrator of school violence in Netflix’s series “The Glory”, has become the best discovery and the biggest beneficiary. Her every move is drawing attention.

In a recent interview with OSEN and other media outlets, Lim Ji Yeon said, “I acted smoking scenes in detail. There were differences when I smoked in front of my husband Ha Do Yeong and when I smoked alone in anger.”

# “The Glory” Kim Hieora

Kim Hieora was a non-smoker, but she played Lee Sa Ra, who is addicted to alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. For this character, Kim Hieora separately got e-cigarettes and started practicing smoking.

In a recent interview, Kim Hieora confessed, “My manager smokes so he told me to get the weakest e-cigarette. I didn’t smoke when I was alone, but I practiced smoking with the help of my manager when we went to the shoot. I was very worried because I had to smoke ‘pleasantly’. There was a scene where I made a cannabis roll and smoked it. I felt tired after smoking, and it didn’t taste good at all, so I tried not to think about it again afterwards.”

# “Work Later, Drink Now” Jung Eun Ji

Apink member-actress Jung Eun Ji received favorable reviews for her realistic acting in “Work Later, Drink Now”.

Above all, she was suspected of smoking for real because of her realistic smoking performance. Song Eun Yi of KBS2’s entertainment show “Problem Child in House” joked, “When did you start smoking?”

Jung Eun Ji said, “I already contacted my family about the smoking scene. I told them not to worry because I was using a non-tobacco cigarette, but they must have forgotten.”

The singer-actress then revealed a funny anecdote, saying, “While having a meal, my father saw the scene and was so shocked that he couldn’t speak. Fortunately, he remembered that I had contacted him beforehand, so he didn’t get angry and just continued watching silently.”

Although Jung Eun Ji was a non-smoker and practiced with a non-tobacco cigarette, she still experienced stomach cramps after the performance. She complained that even though it wasn’t a real cigarette, it was still too harsh for her, and the stomach cramps were a result of her incompatibility with the non-tobacco cigarette.

As both actress and director, Goo Hye Sun attended the 27th Busan International Film Festival last year, as well as held a screening and GV of “Goo Hye Sun Director’s Short Film Selection.”

Here, while discussing “Dark Yellow”, Goo Hye Sun confessed, “I learned to smoke at that time. I learned it to shoot a scene in the movie.”

The actress also revealed her efforts by saying, “In the past, when I was filming a feature film, I worked with people who couldn’t smoke, and people who smoked said it was obvious. I’m a non-smoker, so I thought it didn’t make much of a difference. However, there are many actors who smoke.Whether it was an actress or a male actor, it was acting, but I thought, ‘Let me try it myself’. I wanted to try that particular scene, so I practiced [smoking] for about 6 months.”
