Phantom

“Phantom” (written and directed by Lee Hae Young, produced by The Lamp, distributed by CJ ENM) deals with the unstoppable operation of the real spies and the struggle of people who are suspected of being spies planted by anti-Japanese organizations in the Gyeongseong and Joseon Governors in 1933.

In the work, Park So Dam plays the role of Yuriko, a powerful figure in the Joseon government-general who became the direct secretary of the general political affairs chief even though she is a Korean.

Previously, Park So Dam was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in 2021 and underwent surgery. Fortunately, she regained her health and resumed her activities.

Park So Dam said, “Everyone was curious about my hair color during ‘Parasite’, so I said, ‘I think I can greet you during the movie ‘Special Delivery’.’ However, at that time, I couldn’t speak and move my body because it was after the surgery. So I meet you now, a year later.

Park So Dam, who was in a bad condition while filming “Phantom”, confessed, “I didn’t even know I was sick throughout the filming. I thought a burnout came. I was afraid to go to the set every day. My body kept sending signals. I apologized to seniors and the director because I thought it was an emotional and mental problem. It was a time when I doubted my acting every day, so I cried in front of the director after the filming, and seniors saw me cry.

She continued, “Fortunately, while waiting for the result of the biopsy after undergoing a health checkup, I was able to do the post synchronization recording for ‘Phantom’. However, if the surgery was a little late, I would have lost my voice. The location is too bad.

When asked “How is your health now?“, she replied, “Although it has improved a lot, it may not look good because I have a skin breakout due to hormonal imbalance. I’m still working on fixing it. Many places are stagnant because of the surgical part. So I’ve been doing pilates since April last year. I go 5~6 times a week, and I did it this morning too. I’m looking for my own pattern. My condition won’t improve unless I create a flow. I don’t have as much stamina as I used to after one day of my schedule, but I think I’m healthy and happy when I think about this time last year.
