Park Yoo-chun’s Talents Has Regrettably Been Overshadowed By His Series Of Scandals

Despite Park Yoo-chun’s efforts to resume activities, it’s still difficult for him to make a comeback in Korea

Singer-actor Park Yoo-chun held his fanmeeting “Re.birth” at LDH Kitchen THE TOKYO HANEDA on February 9th. He is scheduled to carry out six shows in three consecutive days. Tickets for the fanmeeting were priced at 23,000 yen (about 210,000 won) and 50,000 yen (460,000 won) for the dinner show.

Park Yoo-chun’s first fanmeeting was attended by countless fans who still support him and wanted to celebrate his 20th debut anniversary. It is known that younger brother Park Yoo-hwan also came to support his brother.

Showing up on the stage in a white jacket and black pants, Park Yoo-chun made various poses, such as a cheek heart and finger heart, and completed fanservice enthusiastically. He smiled brightly and kept saying “Thank you so much”.

Photos and videos taken at the event spread rapidly online, and Park Yoo-chun’s appearance, which has changed significantly from his past image, became a hot topic. The majority of netizens pointed out that he had gained more weight and his aging is noticeable. Although aging is natural since he’s already in his late 30s, he might be criticized for poor self-management as a celebrity.

In fact, netizens’ disappointment toward Park Yoo-chun is not because of his appearance, but mostly due to his controversies in the past. After being indicted of taking methamphetamine in 2019 and imprisoned, the singer-actor announced his retirement from the entertainment industry. However, he reversed his words and has been active overseas.

In addition, he has not responded to rumors of his romantic relationships, breakup, tax evasion as well as the dispute with his agency. Due to the series of such scandals, the Korean public has mostly turned their back on Park Yoo-chun.

What’s even more regrettable is that Park Yoo-chun was an all-rounder singer and an outstanding actor in the past. After the success of his singing activities with TVXQ and JYJ, he received favorable reviews for his acting in KBS2’s hit drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” and the movie “Sea Fog”. At that time, Park Yoo-chun won 8 rookie awards and was considered a promising actor.

However, his talent failed to gain recognition from the public due to the controversies. He attempted to return to the big screen with the 2021 independent film “On the Edge” after seven years but eventually faced a big failure.

An insider said to OSEN, “I watched the movie and Park Yoo-chun’s acting skills are still good. He did a great job. However, it seems that it will not be easy for him to return to the domestic entertainment industry because the public gaze toward him is still cold”.
