Park Sung-hoon heightened expectations for "Squid Game 2"

Actor Park Sung-hoon appeared on the May 24th broadcast of SBS Power FM’s “Choi Hwa-jung’s Power Time”.

On this day, Park Sung-hoon talked about his role as Jeon Jae-joon in the hit drama “The Glory”, “Writer Kim Eun-sook cast me after seeing my kind role in ‘My Only One’. She thought, ‘It would be new and interesting to cast someone with such a kind face in a villain role.’

Park Sung-hoon, who will appear in the Daehakro play “Bread”, shared why he returned to theater after 7 years. He said, “It’s a work that premiered last year, and it really stirred up the theater scene in Daehakro. They called it a ‘God play’. Around the end of last year, while filming ‘Squid Game 2’ and ‘Queen of Tears’ simultaneously, I anticipated having a schedule gap in the spring, so I thought it would be nice to do a play again after a long time. I even begged the director over the phone to cast me.”

He added, “Fans who have supported me since my theater days are very happy and excited. I’m working really hard in rehearsals to meet their expectations.

Park Sung-hoon was asked about his next project following his villainous roles as Jeon Jae-joon in “The Glory” and Yoon Eun-sung in “Queen of Tears”. He responded, “I want to do a melodrama or romantic comedy next. I really like comedy.

Regarding his tips for memorizing scripts, he shared, “I tend to memorize a bit faster than others. There’s no special trick; it’s just about continuously looking at and repeating the lines.”

About the ending scene of “Queen of Tears”, he said with a smile, “It was a scene where I die, and it was incredibly cold. We were in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, with a snowy landscape, so it was a bit tough. But seeing how beautifully it was captured on screen made it all worth it.

Commenting on his appearance in “Squid Game 2”, Park Sung-hoon raised expectations by saying, “It’ll be even more fun than Season 1.” He also mentioned, “Out of all the filming sets, the ‘Squid Game’ food truck was the best. They developed new menus and the side dishes never repeated. Sometimes actors would come just to eat, even when they didn’t have scenes to shoot.
