Park Seo-joon is set to make a bold transformation as he takes on one of the darkest roles of his career in the upcoming Disney+ original series “I Am a Sinner” (내가 죄인이오).

The drama, based on a popular Kakao Webtoon of the same name, unfolds in the lawless chaos of 1980s Korea during a massive redevelopment boom. Blending crime, action, and noir elements, the story follows characters driven by greed, survival, and ambition as they risk everything for a shot at turning their lives around.

Park Seo Joon will portray “Paeng-i,” a mysterious and ruthless figure who embodies the era’s unchecked desire and moral decay. His character suddenly appears in a redevelopment zone ahead of the 1988 Seoul Olympics and becomes entangled in illegal drug operations, dragging others into a spiral of chaos. Known for his charismatic leading roles, Park’s shift into a full-fledged villain marks a significant departure that is already generating strong anticipation.

Joining him is Uhm Tae-goo, who plays “Saeng-dak,” a gang member caught between loyalty and survival. His character faces a life-altering decision after betraying his organization and accepting Paeng-i’s dangerous proposition. Meanwhile, Jo Hye-joo takes on the role of “Bok-hee,” a key figure in the drug trade and Paeng-i’s first love, whose unpredictable actions add further tension to the narrative.

The series is directed by Hong Won-chan, known for the high-octane action film Deliver Us from Evil. This project marks his first foray into series directing, raising expectations for intense storytelling and stylish action sequences.

Early reports from the script reading reveal that the cast quickly immersed themselves in their roles, delivering powerful performances from the outset. Park Seo Joon expressed his excitement, stating that this was a character he had long been waiting for and an opportunity to showcase a completely new side of himself.

With its gripping premise, morally complex characters, and a star-studded cast, “I Am a Sinner” is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Korean dramas on Disney+.
