Our Blues, The Heirs, and other K-dramas with a cast full of top stars

Normally, all the spotlight in a series will be focused on one or two main actors only. However, these K-dramas took it to the next level with their all-star cast.

K-dramas are famous for the romance genre, where only the main couple get to shine, and by extension, the actor and actress that play them. However, the below K-dramas have a much wider main cast full of famous actors:

Our Blues

Let’s start with a recent work. “Our Blues” revolves around simple pieces of life on a seaside village of Jeju island. The series has not one, but many storylines of different couples, leading to a wide variety of characters getting their own limelight. These characters are all played by top Korean stars, from Lee Byung Hun, Shin Min Ah, Kim Woo Bin, Han Ji Min, to Cha Seung Won. To top it all off, the iconic singer-actor Uhm Jung Hwa, as well as movie stars Lee Jung Eun and Go Doo Shim are also major parts of the story. It’s an all-star cast barely seen before on the Korean small screen!

Hospital Playlist

Taking place in a hospital and surrounding 5 talented doctors, “Hospital Playlist” also employed 5 well-recognized actors. From Jo Jung Suk, Yoo Yeon Seok, Jung Kyung Ho, Kim Jae Myung, to Jeon Mi Do, we have a cast that ranged from drama and movie stars to musical actors. In addition, the series is full of familiar faces in supporting roles as well, making for a superpower list of actors.

Itaewon Class

Itaewon Class” is an inspiring K-drama that follows the male lead Park Saeroyi, his attempts to be successful, and his path to revenge. Popular as it is, not many people notice that this series was also filled with famous actors, including Park Seo Joon, Kim Da Mi, Ahn Bo Hyun, and Kwon Nara. Even the well-loved Park Bo Gum decided to appear in the last episode – and the success of the series was undeniable.

Arthdal Chronicles

The mystic series “Arthdal Chronicles” was among the most expensive K-dramas to ever be produced, with an extensive plot and cast to boost. Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ok Bin, Song Joong Ki, and Kim Ji Won played the four central characters, while supporting roles were also full of rising faces like Choo Ja Hyun and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo. “Arthdal Chronicles” has truly lived up to its high investment.

Mr. Sunshine

With settings in the war-filled 80s, “Mr. Sunshine” focused on the untold tales of patriots that fought for the nation with their all might. And of course, along with such a heroic plot was a worthy all-star cast. Playing the 5 main characters, Lee Byung Hun, Kim Tae Ri, Yoo Yeon Seok, Kim Min Jung, and Byun Yo Han collaborated beautifully to create a legendary series. And the cameos were also no joke, with the appearance of the “Descendants of the Sun” couple Kim Ji Won and Jin Goo.

Moon Lovers

It is impossible to leave “Moon Lovers” out if we are talking about series with the best cast. From major characters played like Lee Jun Ki, IU, Kang Ha Neul, Nam Joo Hyuk, Hong Jong Hyun, and Baekhyung, alongside other experienced actors, the drama attracted great attention ever since it first aired. Even now, discussions of “Moon Lovers” have never died down, and its range of actors with mad talents is one of the crucial reasons.

It’s Okay, That’s Love

This healing drama, written by famous screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung, was more than just the main couple of Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin. In fact, other storylines were all watch-worthy and heart-wrenching to the max, with their own meaningful messages being transmitted beautifully. Other than In Sung and Hyo Jin, there were also Lee Kwang Soo, EXO’s D.O, as well as Lee Sung Kyung and Ki Tae Young in the supporting cast.

The Heirs

Our final all-star K-drama is none other than “The Heirs”. This rich student drama was portrayed by a cast so famous they were next to none, including Lee Min Ho, Kim Woo Bin, Park Shin Hye, Krystal, Kim Ji Won, Park Hyung Sik, Kang Ha Neul, and many, many more. It is no exaggeration to say that “The Heirs” has got the entire cream of the crop.

Famous actors and actresses will obviously draw more viewers into their K-dramas. Hopefully, we can see more series like these in the future.
