Opposite Reactions To Cameo Roles: “Queen of Tears” Song Joong-ki VS “Wedding Impossible” Lee Chung-hyun
Actor Song Joong-ki and director Lee Chung-hyun made special appearances in ongoing dramas but received different responses
Song Joong-ki appeared in episode 8 of tvN’s Sat-Sun drama “Queen of Tears”, which aired on March 31st, with the cameo role of Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won)’s lawyer Vincenzo.
The actor and Kim Ji-won worked together in “Descendants of the Sun” and “Arthdal Chronicles”. The two are also under the same company HighZium Studio. Song Joong-ki met Kim Soo-hyun in “Will It Snow for Christmas?” and starred in director Kim Hee-won’s 2021 drama “Vincenzo”.
Reenacting his own character Vincenzo, Song Joong-ki showed off his extraordinary aura in a nice suit and with his charismatic eyes. In particular, Song Joong-ki also added a pleasant tension to “Queen of Tears” with his sharp lines as Hong Hae-in’s lawyer.
As soon as Song Joong-ki appeared, viewers laughed hard by the line introducing the whole filmography of the actor, including “Reborn Rich”, “Descendants of the Sun”, “Space Sweepers”, and “A Werewolf Boy”. With Song Joong-ki’s appearance, Park Ji-eun’s script was perfectly conveyed to viewers. As a result, episode 8 of “Queen of Tears” soared to the highest peak of 16.1%.
While Song Joong-ki’s cameo role received favorable reviews, Lee Chung-hyun’s cameo appearance in his girlfriend’s drama led to a reverse effect.
In the final episode of tvN’s drama “Wedding Impossible”, which aries on April 2nd, director Lee Chung-hyun, the boyfriend of the female lead Jeon Jong-seo, appeared as a director.
Directing successful works such as “Bargain”, “The Call”, and “Ballerina”, Lee Chung-hyun is also famous among movie fans for his handsome appearance and his romantic relationship with actress Jeon Jong-seo. In “Wedding Impossible”, he briefly showed up as a director who shouted “NG” at Na Ah-jung (Jeon Jong-seo).
However, his short scene sparked a heated debate among viewers. Many people complained that showing the female lead’s real boyfriend in the drama broke their immersion in the drama’s story, saying “Are they trying to make memories together in the drama?”. On the other hand, some were excited to see Lee Chung-hyun, saying “He only acted in a short scene and it was funny to see a real director playing a director role”, “It’s more fun to see her real boyfriend in the drama”, “Aren’t people too sensitive?”, etc.
