Fans had double the reason to celebrate during One Piece Day 2025 in Japan. Alongside fresh images from Netflix’s upcoming One Piece live-action Season 2, the event unveiled an entirely new anime project — One Piece: Heroines.
The spin-off will adapt the light novel series by Jun Esaka (illustrated by Sayaka Suwa), which features standalone stories focusing on beloved female characters who did not receive dedicated arcs in Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. These include Nami, Nico Robin, Nefertari Vivi, and Perona.

The adaptation will be produced by Toei Animation, directed by Haruka Kamatami, with character designs by Takashi Kojima and scripts by Momoka Toyoda. While the release date has yet to be confirmed, the format — whether a short TV series or OVA — remains under wraps.
According to publisher Viz Media, each chapter of the novels centers on a different heroine:
- Nami shines as a fashion icon in a life-changing runway show.
- Robin teams up with Koala and Sabo to decipher an ancient Poneglyph.
- Princess Vivi receives a mysterious love letter.
- Perona, the “ghost princess,” takes on Zoro and Mihawk for the last bottle of wine.
The project promises to add fresh perspectives to the One Piece universe, much like previous spin-offs such as One Piece: Fan Letter.

Meanwhile, Netflix confirmed its live-action adaptation will return in 2026 for Season 2, with a third season already greenlit. The One Piece TV anime continues streaming on both Netflix and Crunchyroll, ensuring that this is a golden era for fans of the iconic adventure series.
