NMIXX officially a million seller artist with soaring album sales – netizens show mixed reactions

NMIXX’s new personal best record in album sales receives mixed reactions from netizens.

After a week of release, NMIXX’s latest single album “A Midsummer NMIXX’s Dream” recorded 1,023,846 sold copies on Hanteo, making NMIXX an official million seller artist. This is also the group’s best-selling album since their debut.

By comparing NMIXX’s previous album “expérgo” with 638,811 sold copies in their first week, “A Midsummer NMIXX’s Dream” shows a significant rise, more than 400,000 copies higher than their previous release.

Nonetheless, some netizens are taking the new achievement with a grain of salt. A post on Pann raised suspicion about the JYP’s girl group’s new achievement. The poster pointed out that neither NMIXX’s domestic and international fanbase nor the group’s digital performances (streaming and YouTube views and likes) are comparable to the recorded sales.

In response to the post, many netizens inferred that the poster was alluding to a potential case of “sajaegi” (companies manipulating chart rankings). However, they defended NMIXX, stating that JYP is a listed company; hence, they would not get involved in chart manipulation. Moreover, they also claimed that NMIXX is criminally understated as a K-pop girl group. Therefore, their rising popularity should not be a problem in the first place. It may simply be interpreted that more K-pop fans are realizing NMIXX’s potential.
