NewJeans is the First K-pop Group to Sing the Theme Song for LoL World Championship
NewJeans will be singing the theme song for the largest global esports event, League of Legends (LoL) World Championship
NewJeans‘ agency, ADOR, announced on September 27th that the theme song for the 2023 LoL World Championship titled ‘GODS’, sung by NewJeans, will be released on October 4th at 2 PM KST. This marks the first time a K-pop group has sung the theme song for the tournament.

LoL World Championship is a prestigious esports competition, and it is coming to South Korea for the first time in five years.
‘GODS’ is a song created through collaboration between Riot Games’ chief composer Sebastien Najand and MAKO’s Alex Seaver, who has also contributed to the OST of the animated series ‘Arcane.’ A music video has been produced, featuring the journey of pro gamer Kim Hyuk-kyu, better known as Deft.

Previously, the theme songs for this tournament were sung by renowned artists like Imagine Dragons and Lil Nas X. The fact that NewJeans, a K-pop group that debuted just a year ago is singing the theme song for LoL World Championship reflects their global recognition.
NewJeans expressed their excitement, “We had fun experimenting with a new genre and sound, and we are delighted to present a song that embodies the unique colors of both NewJeans and LoL.”

The music video and song will be released on October 4th at 2 PM KST on the official LoL YouTube channel and major music streaming platforms worldwide.
