Even while on hiatus, NewJeans are proving their staying power on the global music scene. According to Spotify on September 26, “Hype Boy” has officially surpassed 700 million streams, reaching 700,169,307 plays as of September 24.

This milestone makes Hype Boy the group’s fourth song to join their 700-million-stream club, following OMG, Ditto, and Super Shy.

Released in August 2022 as one of three title tracks from NewJeans’ debut album New Jeans, Hype Boy instantly captivated listeners with its fusion of moombahton and electro-pop. Beyond its addictive sound, the song’s cool, hip choreography sparked a global dance challenge trend.

Remarkably, over three years since release, Hype Boy remains a staple on Korean music charts, showcasing its lasting popularity.

To date, NewJeans have amassed 15 songs with over 100 million streams on Spotify:

  • OMG and Ditto – over 800 million streams each
  • Super Shy and Hype Boy – over 700 million
  • Attention – over 500 million
  • New Jeans – over 400 million
  • ETA – over 300 million
  • Cookie, Hurt, Cool With You, How Sweet – over 200 million each
  • ASAP, Get Up, Supernatural, Bubble Gum – over 100 million each

Altogether, NewJeans’ discography has surpassed 6.7 billion cumulative Spotify streams, cementing their status as one of the most impactful K-pop groups of the 4th generation.

Meanwhile, NewJeans’ career remains overshadowed by ongoing disputes with their label ADOR. Following the dismissal of former CEO Min Hee Jin in August 2024, the members declared contract termination and attempted to promote independently under the name NJZ. However, ADOR filed lawsuits asserting the contract was still valid, and courts granted injunctions to restrict independent activities.

Although legally still under ADOR, the members have refused to resume activities without Min Hee Jin, citing a complete breakdown of trust. With both sides failing to reach an agreement during multiple mediation attempts, the court is set to deliver a ruling on October 30, 2025.

For now, despite halted promotions, NewJeans’ streaming dominance shows that their music continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
