NewJeans’ Album “Get Up” Continues to Set Records for 4th Gen K-pop Girl Groups on Billboard 200

The mini 2nd album ‘Get Up’ by NewJeans has entered a long reign on Billboard 200

According to Billboard on October 10th (local time), ‘Get Up’ by NewJeans ranked 64th on Billboard 200. It dropped 4 places from the previous week’s 60th but maintained its position in the top 70 for the 11th consecutive week.

This album climbed to the top as soon as it debuted on this chart. NewJeans became the second K-pop girl group after BLACKPINK to rank No.1 on this chart.

‘Get Up’ is currently rewriting the record for the longest stay on Billboard 200 by a 4th generation K-pop girl group. The K-pop girl group album that stayed the longest on this chart was BLACKPINK’s 1st full album ‘THE ALBUM,’ which spent a total of 26 weeks on the chart. BLACKPINK’s 2nd full album ‘Born Pink’ stayed for 13 weeks, ‘TWICE’s’ mini 12th album ‘Ready to Be’ stayed for 11 weeks. ‘Get Up’ has matched the record of ‘Ready to Be’ for the same duration.

NewJeans’ ‘Get Up’ is also performing well on Billboard’s specific album charts. It achieved 10 weeks at No.1 on the ‘Billboard World Albums’ chart, setting a record for the longest reign by a K-pop girl group on this chart. It also reached No.16 in Top Album Sales and No.9 in Top Current Album Sales.

The songs from the album are also having an extended stay on one of Billboard’s major charts, ‘Global 200.’ The pre-release track and one of the triple title tracks, ‘Super Shy,’ stayed for 13 weeks at No. 33. Another title track, ‘ETA,’ spent 11 weeks at No. 88. NewJeans’ previously released track ‘OMG’ managed to stay on the chart for 40 weeks, reaching No. 195.

At the same time, BTS members continue to dominate Billboard as well. Jungkook placed his second solo single ‘3D (feat. Jack Harlow)’ at No. 5 on the main single chart, ‘Hot 100.’ His first single ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ is still ranking high as well. This week, it’s at No. 57, marking 12 weeks on the ‘Hot 100’ chart.

Jungkook has become the first Korean soloist to debut with two or more songs and enter Top 5 of this chart simultaneously.

Notably, Jungkook also placed a total of four solo songs on ‘Hot 100,’ including his OST ‘Stay Alive (Prod. SUGA of BTS)’ and a collaboration with Charlie Puth, ‘Left and Right.

V’s debut solo album ‘Layover’ charted for 4 consecutive weeks on Billboard 200, reaching No.70. It also ranked No.6 on ‘Top Current Albums’ and No.10 on ‘Top Album Sales.’ The album’s title track ‘Slow Dancing’ landed at No.20 on ‘Global (excluding the US)’ chart and No.36 on ‘Global 200.’

Jimin’s first solo album ‘FACE,’ with the title track ‘Like Crazy,’ reached No.48 on ‘Global (excluding the US)’ and No.77 on ‘Global 200.’ J-Hope’s solo album ‘Jack In The Box’ ranked No.41 on ‘Top Current Albums’ and No.57 on ‘Top Album Sales.’

On another note, the No.1 spot on this week’s ‘Hot 100’ is claimed by Doja Cat with ‘Paint The Town Red.’ The album ‘One Thing At A Time’ by Morgan Wallen once again secured the top position on ‘Billboard 200.’
