New drama “Why Her” starring Seo Hyun-jin receives explosive reactions for its first broadcast, reaching the highest real-time rating of 9.3%
Actress Seo Hyun-jin’s new drama “Why Her” made a smooth start.
The first episode of SBS’s “Why Her”, which aired on June 3rd, recorded a nationwide rating of 6.0% (based on Nielsen Korea’s data), ranking 1st place among Friday-Saturday dramas of the same broadcasting time.
With the highest real-time rating of the drama soaring to 9.3%, the viewers’ responses to the first episode were also explosive.
Episode 1 of “Why Her” began in the middle of the night with the scene of a mysterious incident at the TK law firm and Oh Soo-jae (Seo Hyun-jin) was seen with blood stains. Then, the daily life of lawyer Oh Soo-jae, who plays an important role in her law firm and at the court, was depicted.
Oh Soo-jae, who won the title of the first female lawyer to enter one of the top 10 law firms in Korea, was appointed an unexpected case by the Chairman of TK law firm Choi Tae-guk (Heo Jun-ho).
Rep. Lee In-soo (Cho Young-jin), a close friend of Choi Tae-guk, asked Oh Soo-jae to wrap up the case of Park So-young (Hong Ji-yoon), who claims to have been sexually assaulted by Ahn Kang-hoon (Lee Tae-sung), who is on his party.
Oh Soo-jae felt uncomfortable with the familiar name Ahn Kang-hoon. She met him as a client related to an unsavory incident in which a couple dated secretly to avoid public’s attention.
Oh Soo-jae met the victim Park So-young and rushed her with words and actions full of scary self-righteousness. And that night, Oh Soo-jae came to check with her own eyes the woman who fell from the roof of TK law firm’s building. She was Park So-young.
Public attention began to focus on TK law firm and they believed Park So-young decided to make an extreme choice because of Oh Soo-jae. Many people raised strong voices questioning Oh Soo-jae’s qualifications as a lawyer.
Oh Soo-jae angrily insisted, “I’m TK. I’m in TK”, but Choi Tae-guk, who was not happy with Oh Soo-jae’s attitude, eventually sent her to Seojung University of Law to be an adjunct professor.
Meanwhile, repeated encounters between Oh Soo-jae and Gong Chan (Hwang In-yeop) came like fate. Oh Soo-jae slapped Gong Chan in anger when he accidentally spilled an ice box while passing by she was sent away by Choi Tae-guk. Oh Soo-jae and Gong Chan reunited at Seojung University of Law.
Seeing Oh Soo-jae’s name on the blackboard, Gong Chan recalled the past when no one knew who Oh Soo-jae was. In fact, Oh Soo-jae was the only lawyer who trusted him 10 years ago. The narration “I met you again. I met Oh Soo-jae again” followed, raising the viewers’ curiosity about the developments of the drama.
“Why Her”, which heralds intense stories from its start, airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m.
