Both IVE and Kep1er are two famous rookies that debuted recently. Which girl group is more talented and charming?
From the last month of 2021 until early 2022, Kpop saw the debut of two outstanding rookie girl groups: IVE and Kep1er. Both are among the strongest competitors in the race of 4th generation idol groups. Getting launched around the same time and garnering the similar amount of attention, IVE and Kep1er are constantly pitted against each other.

From vocals, dance to rap, the girl group that came out of Mnet’s survival show Girls Planet 999 is said to outdo IVE. In terms of vocals, Kep1er has strong vocalists like Chaehyun, Sakamoto Mashiro, Youngeun or Dayeon. Although they are only rookies, these members have proved themselves to be good singers with stable live vocals on stage. In particular, former SM trainee Chaehyun, who practiced with aespa members, impresses listeners with her bright vocal color and steady range.
Regarding dance, Kep1er fans believe that Choi Yujin, Xiao Ting and Dayeon are talented enough to “carry” the dance line of IVE. Kep1er captivates fans with their eye-catching and energetic choreography. The group’s girl crush concept also suits the taste of international fans more than Starship’s rookie. Meanwhile, IVE draws mixed reactions for their uneven dance performances between the members.
In terms of rap, Kep1er and IVE are rated equally, but fans of Kep1er are confident that Kep1er has a more outstanding rap line (Dayeon, Mashiro, Hikaru) compared to IVE with only Rei and Gaeul.
However, when it comes to visuals, IVE fans think that IVE is undoubtedly the winner. IVE is famous for their all-visual lineup. All 6 members receive plenty of praise for their pretty looks. Most notably, IVE has Wonyoung, one of the most popular 4th generation female idols, as the group’s visual center, and Yujin, who is often praised for her actress-like beauty. However, according to fans of Kep1er, Kep1er members’ beauty may not adhere to common standards, but their unmistakable charms are what make them stand out from the mainstream-looking idols.
