Netizens are divided over what Nam Joo Hyuk said to Suzy during the filming of their drama kiss scene 

Nam Joo Hyuk’s past remarks toward Suzy are being re-examined amid his school violence controversy.

In a behind-the-scenes video of tvN’s drama “Start Up”, which ended on December 6, 2020, Nam Joo Hyuk and Suzy were shooting a kiss scene on the roof. Nam Joo Hyuk’s words to Suzy have recently caught the attention again.

Right after they kissed, Nam Joo Hyuk asked Suzy, “What did you eat for lunch?” Suzy replied, “Noodles.” Nam Joo Hyuk said “Ah…” and only nodded. In response, Suzy seemed embarrassed and said, “Why do you ask that?“

Nam Joo Hyuk got silent for a bit and suddenly said, “Didn’t you eat samhab?” He was referring to a Korean dish that combines braised pork, well-aged kimchi, and raw fermented skate fish, which is known to have a heavy smell. After Nam Joo Hyuk said this, Suzy smiled and lightly tapped his arm.

Some netizens pointed out that Nam Joo Hyuk was being rude.  Asking his co-star what she ate after kissing her could be offensive. Some also thought that Nam Joo Hyuk could be making fun of Suzy on purpose by bringing up samhap all of a sudden because she was from Gwangju, Jeolla Province. On the contrary, there were also netizens who believed Nam Joo Hyuk was only making a joke.
