Explaining the movie, director Kim Tae Joon said, “Smartphones accompany us 24 hours a day and know more information about us than anyone else. This thriller allows you to indirectly experience the worst situation that can happen when information in your smartphone is exposed to bad people”.

When asked about the reason he cast Chun Woo Hee as Nami, director Kim said, “The diverse emotions experienced by Nami are very dramatic and Chun Woo Hee was the only actress who could digest them in full detail”.

Regarding Im Si Wan, he shared, “I really wanted to work with him. When I imagined a villain, I couldn’t think of anyone other than actor Im Si Wan. I thought a three-dimensional character would be created if combining the evil image of the character with the bright image of the actor”. In response, Im Si Wan revealed that he received the script from his best friend Kim Hee Won, saying “He (Kim Hee Won) told me that the character Jun Yeong would suit me. The script was also well-written and I felt like I was going to immerse myself in it. I couldn’t forget that strong impression and decided to join the film.”

Regarding what he focused on when acting in “Unlocked”, Im Si Wan said, “I wanted to exclude all the serious emotions and approach others with a playful mind. Rather than being cool, I believed that presenting a tone and manners that are like playing around with others would give a more creepy feeling to my acting.” Chun Woo Hee shared, “I’m not an office worker but I wanted to show the most comprehensive and common side of a character like that. I worked the hardest on my emotions, tone, and reactions. I focused on the most common emotions to guide the viewers to watch the movie from Nami’s position.”

Revealing a behind-the-scenes story, Kim Hee Won also said, “I’m close to the CEO of the production company, and he asked me to do this even before I read the script”. He continued, “Im Si Wan has a unique vibe. This friend never stops. If he has a goal, he will keep working until he achieves it”, adding “He’s reckless and excellent. I think he would leave a great impact on viewers if he appears as Jun Yeong so I gave him the script.”

In response to the question, “Have you ever experienced something similar to the setting of the film?”, Im Si Wan said, “When I got spam messages, I kept wondering ‘How did they know my number?’”. Chun Woo Hee added, “I’ve never experienced that but I did wonder whether someone is watching me through the smartphone lens”, drawing laughter. Kim Hee Won said, “I lost my phone once, but luckily, I found it again. I’m scared of cell phones. It’s annoying to have so many kinds of passwords.”
