It was reported that after her ex-boyfriend got arrested, actress Park Min Young came under investigation by prosecution.
On February 15th, Park Min Young’s agency, Hook Entertainment, released an official statement which said:
“Hello. This is Hook Entertainment.
We would like to tell you about the prosecution’s summoning investigation and departure ban of actress Park Min Young, which was reported in the media on February 14th (Tuesday).
Park Min Young diligently completed the prosecution’s summon investigation on February 13th (Monday) as a simple reference, and we confirm that she is not currently banned from leaving the country.
We apologize for bringing you bad news at a difficult time, as well as for the delay in giving an official position.”
Previously, SBS reported that Park Min Young was investigated by prosecution as a reference for Mr. Kang, a businessman suspected of being a key figure in the embezzlement case of Bithumb – a cryptocurrency exchange platform.
Regarding this, prosecution said, “We found circumstantial evidence in which Park Min Young’s name was used in a borrowed-name transaction for convertible bonds issued by Bithumb officials.” It was also added that they were considering whether to summon Park Min Young further by banning her from leaving the country.
However, Park Min Young’s side is known to have stated during the prosecution’s investigation that the borrowed-name transaction had nothing to do with the actress.
Previously, Park Min Young was caught up in dating rumors with Kang, who was pointed out as a key figure in the Bithumb embezzlement case last year. In response, Mr. Kang said, “I don’t want (Park Min-young’s) career to be ruined because of me. So we decided to break up.”
