“My Dearest” starts with 5.4% “Nam Goong Min X Ahn Eun Jin, fateful meeting”

MBC-TV’s new Friday-Saturday drama “My Dearest” (written by Hwang Jin Young, directed by Kim Sung Yong) got off to a good start.

The first episode of “My Dearest” aired on August 4th. According to the ratings research company Nielsen Korea, “My Dearest” recorded 5.4% (based on households nationwide). Its highest rating was 7.1%.

The story began on one day in the spring of the 14th year of King Injo (1636). In Neunggun-ri, a rich and free-spirited village, there was Yoo Gil Chae (Ahn Eun Jin), the daughter of a noble family who grew up beautifully.

Yoo Gil Chae had in mind Nam Yeon Joon (Lee Hak Joo), the fiancé of her closest friend Kyung Eun Ae (Lee Da In). She headed to the swing on the hill to get his attention.

She slyly stomped her feet and rode on the swing, then fell slightly on purpose. All the men headed to the hill, but only Nam Yeon Joon did not come.

Yoo Gil Chae was very mad and went up on the swing again. Then, the swing rope snapped in the air, and Lee Jang Hyun (Nam Goong Min), who arrived at the hill just in time, hugged her. Their eyes met.

It was the beginning of a relationship. Lee Jang Hyun said, “Have you ever heard the sound of a four o’clock flower blooming? I heard that rare sound today.”

The beginning of a war was also signaled. Along with the leisurely Neunggun-ri, heavy scenes of the royal court implying that the Qing invasion of Joseon was approaching intersected.

This has already heralded the birth of a masterpiece historical drama. “My Dearest” is said to have been perfect from story, visual beauty, directing to the actors’ passionate performance.

Meanwhile, episode 2 of “My Dearest” will air at 9:50 PM on August 5th.
