Meanwhile, JTBC faced controversy when some Arab netizens claimed that the portrayal of Prince Samir in episodes 7 and 8 of “King the Land” depicted him as a playboy who enjoys drinking, and they accused it of distorting Arab culture.

JTBC, realizing the seriousness of the situation late, announced on July 13th that they had made edits and re-released the episodes, “We have made quick edits, including removing the club scenes. The edited version has been uploaded to our website, and the rerun is also scheduled to be aired with the edited version.

They added, “The domestic platforms can now view the edited version, and we will continue to consult with various international platforms for further edits.”

JTBC also posted an apology letter written in Arabic, demonstrating their efforts to communicate with Arab-speaking viewers.
