Seo Hyun Jin and Gong Yoo confirmed to pair up in Netflix’s “The Trunk” as a married couple

Netflix announced the production of the new original series “The Trunk”, starring Seo Hyun Jin and Gong Yoo.

On July 17th, Netflix unveiled Seo Hyun Jin and Gong Yoo as the main cast of the new original series “The Trunk” (written by Park Eun Young/ directed by Kim Kyu Tae), which is on the novel of the same name by writer Kim Ryeo Ryeong, known as an extraordinary storyteller in the Korean literary world.

“The Trunk” tells a mysterious marriage service that emerged due to a trunk that appeared on the lakeside and the strange marriage story of a man and a woman. The marriage contract period is only one year, and the story unfolds unpredictably with the setting of a premium matching service that finds customized spouses and various relationships entangled among the characters.

“The Trunk” marks the first collaboration between Seo Hyun Jin and Gong Yoo. As the casting news spread, the drama has become one of the most highly-anticipated works. Impressing viewers with her amazing character transformations in “Another Miss Oh”, “Temperature of Love”, “The Beauty Inside”, “Black Dog” and “Why Her”, Seo Hyun Jin will take on the role of In Ji, an employee of NM, a company that arranges short-term marriages. After going through four marriages, In Ji ends up meeting Jung Won as her spouse in the fifth marriage.

Gong Yoo

Gong Yoo, who has been active in both dramas and movies, such as “Train to Busan”, “The Age of Shadows”, “Seobok”, “Goblin”, “The Silent Sea”, etc., plays music producer Jung Won, whose life has been full of anxiety and loneliness due to his past pain. Ironically, he meets In Ji, his second wife and the first person he encounters through the short-term marriage service applied by his ex-wife Seo Yeon, whom he is still longing for. Each hiding their own secrets and pains, Jung Won and In Ji gradually get to know each other and become closer. The two begin to face various unexpected events after discovering a mysterious trunk by the lake.

“Our Blues”, “It’s Okay, That’s Love” and “Live” director Kim Kyu Tae will be in charge of directing “The Trunk”, while the script is written by “Hwarang” screenwriter Park Eun Young.

“The Trunk” will premiere on Netflix.
