MEOVV is preparing for a major comeback with the EP Bite Now on June 1, but despite impressive visuals and heavy investment, the rookie group is still struggling to recapture the explosive attention they received during debut.

Recently released teasers and concept photos for the project immediately drew positive reactions online thanks to the group’s dramatic image transformation. Unlike MEOVV’s earlier youthful concepts, the members now embrace a darker, more mysterious aesthetic filled with sharp styling, cold visuals, and cinematic storytelling.

The trailers for Bite Now heavily feature black-and-white tones, eerie atmospheres, and symbolic imagery connected to temptation and rebellion. Fans also noticed multiverse-inspired elements woven throughout the teasers, with each member portrayed as a separate identity existing in contrasting worlds.

Many netizens praised the comeback’s visual direction, describing the project as luxurious, haunting, and fashion-forward. Some viewers even compared the production scale to science fiction films due to its elaborate set design and high-budget execution.

The group’s agency also received praise for abandoning the “typical teenage girl group” image in favor of a more mature and edgy identity. Many fans believe the change could help MEOVV separate itself from safer concepts commonly associated with newer K-pop girl groups.

However, despite the strong visual response, the overall level of public interest surrounding the comeback has not significantly increased.

Compared to the massive media buzz surrounding their debut, Bite Now appears to be generating considerably less mainstream discussion — a surprising development given the group’s strong industry backing and luxurious branding.
MEOVV originally debuted under The Black Label, the agency founded by renowned producer Teddy Park. From the start, the group attracted enormous attention due to Teddy’s reputation and constant comparisons to BLACKPINK.

Their debut single Meow became an immediate hit after release in September 2024, earning 5.1 million global streams during its first week and landing at No.10 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. Follow-up tracks including Toxic and Body further strengthened their popularity and helped the group win Favourite Rising Artist at the 2024 MAMA Awards.
At the center of MEOVV’s early popularity was member Ella Gross, who had already built global recognition as a luxury child model often nicknamed “the world’s prettiest child model.” The remaining members — Gawon, Sooin, Anna, and Narin — also attracted attention for their visuals, dance skills, vocal ability, and strong individual branding.

Despite the promising start, industry observers believe the group’s momentum has noticeably slowed over time.
Even after releasing their first EP My Eyes Open Vvide in 2025 with tracks such as Hands Up and Drop Top, MEOVV struggled to maintain the same level of viral attention they enjoyed during debut promotions.

The situation creates significant pressure for the group, especially given the enormous expectations placed on them from the beginning. With strong company support, luxury branding, and comparisons to BLACKPINK, many fans expected MEOVV to immediately dominate the fourth-generation K-pop scene.
Now, Bite Now may become the group’s most important release yet.
While the comeback’s visual transformation has successfully impressed fans, many believe the actual music quality will ultimately determine whether MEOVV can reignite public interest and secure a stronger position in the increasingly competitive K-pop industry.
