MAMA 2022’s worst broadcast accident: The lights went out during YGX’s dance break 

During “Street Man Fighter” dance crew YGX’s performance at MAMA, the stage lights were turned off.

The lights went out, but the performance continued. YGX’s stage at the 2022 MAMA caused much regret. 

On November 29th, the 2022 MAMA Awards was held at Kyocera Dome in Osaka. Jeon Somi appeared as a host and performed an electrifying opening stage.

On the first day of the two-day awards show, popular idols such as KARA, LE SSERAFIM, Kang Daniel, New Jeans, IVE, NMIXX, Kep1er gathered in one place and delivered various performances. Besides idols, in the lineup, there was also YGX, a dance crew that gained popularity through Mnet’s “Street Man Fighter”.

However, an unexpected broadcast accident occurred during YGX’s performance, which shocked the fans and viewers.

The stage lights suddenly went out for several seconds while YGX was dancing. The dancers were not taken aback and professionally finished the stage, but fans expressed their regret, saying, “It must have been a stage that they prepared hard for. I feel sorry for all of them” and “Mnet pulled an Mnet again.”

This was not the only broadcast accident at MAMA last night. During Forestella’s performance, cameras also illuminated the back of the stage.

In addition, the fact that host Jeon Somi led the event in English instead of Korean, and that the camera angle kept showing the whole view of the venue to the point that the artists’ choreography was not visible during their performances, are being criticized by netizens.

The 2022 MAMA has been receiving many complaints from fans since the first day. MAMA will be held today as well. The red carpet will be broadcast live on Mnet from 4 pm KST and the main award ceremony will be broadcast live from 6 pm KST.

Attention is focusing on whether the second day will be able to erase the controversy of the first day and MAMA will be completed successfully.
