The presence of 4th-generation girl groups has been proven once again.
The first day of the “2022 MAMA AWARDS” was held at Kyocera Dome Osaka, Japan at 6 PM on Nov 29th.
At the awards ceremony, awards were presented in categories such as “Worldwide Fans’ Choice”, which is the main award (Bonsang) decided by K-pop fans at home and abroad, and “Worldwide Icon of the Year”, one of the four grand prizes (Daesang). The honor of Bonsang was given to Stray Kids, SEVENTEEN, TREASURE, TXT, GOT7, Psy, NCT DREAM, ENHYPEN, BTS and BLACKPINK. The main character of Daesang was BTS.
Singers loved by global K-pop fans such as NMIXX, DKZ, Hyolyn, Bibi, LE SSERAFIM, Kep1er, Forestella, Kara and Stray Kids heated up the atmosphere at the concert hall by unveiling stages with different charms one after another.
Above all, the stage that caused explosive reactions was the joint stage of IVE, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, NMIXX and Kep1er. Even though they are rookies, they swept the top of various domestic and foreign music charts at the same time as their debut.
The five teams performed unprecedented cover performances in line with their respective debut songs: IVE’s “ELEVEN”, NewJeans’ “Hype Boy”, Kep1er’s “WA DA DA”, NMIXX’s “O.O” and LE SSERAFIM’s “FEARLESS”. On top of that, all 32 members performed TWICE’s hit song “CHEER UP.
Among them, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, NMIXX and Kep1er were awarded the “Favorite New Artist”. This category is for new artists who have sold more than 1 million copies of their albums. IVE, LE SSERAFIM, NMIXX and Kep1er have established themselves as representative groups of the 4th generation with remarkable album results in their debut year.
