MAMA 2022 nominations: Best Female Artist is highly competitive, even BLACKPINK can hardly stand a chance?
MAMA 2022 continues to be a source of debate among fans of whom is the most promising name.
Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) is gearing up for a return by announcing the nominees for an end-of-year award ceremony. On Korean and international social media, netizens are leaving comments speculating which would be the most promising face for each category.
As expected, the “Best New Artist” category has a clear difference. Influential artists such as NMIXX, Choi Ye-na, IVE, Kep1er, LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans will compete as candidates for the Best New Female Artist award. However, in the male group, most of them are less popular names. The most notable and most likely to win the award is TEMPEST.
In the “Best Male Artist” category, the nomination list is the confrontation of J-Hope, Kang Daniel, Lim Young-woong, Psy and Zico. They are all formidable names for this prestigious award.
No less competitive is the “Best Female Artist” award that includes Nayeon, Taeyeon, Miyeon, IU and Seulgi. Many people think that IU, Nayeon and Taeyeon have the best chance of winning.
The “Best Male Group” award seems to belong to BTS for sure. Meanwhile, some say that the girl group category will be a showdown between BLACKPINK and (G)I-DLE. (G)I-DLE’s Tomboy and Nxde did a great job in terms of digital. BLACKPINK is dominating in all aspects, so this award will be extremely unpredictable.
Besides, the relationship between YG & MAMA has not been going smoothly so far, so BLACKPINK is more likely to lose the trophy.
