LOONA’s new album falls 98% in pre-order sales after the wave of boycott from their fandom

The protest against Blockberry Creative is actively adopted and shows promising signs.

BlockBerry Creative is getting slammed by the ongoing boycott carried out within the LOONA’s fandom (Orbits) following the company’s decision to push for a group comeback amidst the unresolved conflict with LOONA’s former Chuu. On December 5th, “LOONA Union”, assembly of LOONA’s fandom, delivered an “ultimatum”, demanding adequate explanation from the company about their alleged mistreatment towards LOONA. Despite the response deadline being December 7th, BlockBerry Creative has not made any official statement.

The pre-order sales of “The Original Album” has not exceeded 2 digits on Ktown4U up until December 15th

The company’s silence led to the boycott from Orbits against LOONA’s upcoming return. The taken actions include no album, goods, concert ticket purchase or any activities that can bring profit to the company. Moreover, the fandom also told one another not to interact with any posts or videos from LOONA’s official Twitter account, especially of their comeback.

The movement is welcomed by the whole fandom and is starting to take effect. According to statistics from Ktown4U, the pre-order sales of “The Original Album” only hit 127 sold copies, in 4CD sets or in random versions altogether. Some retail stores and distribution channels also announced they would not stock up LOONA’s upcoming album as a way to support the group and protest against their company. While it is not sufficient to say anything, the boycott can be considered a promising start in taking back the rights to the LOONA girls.

LOONA is a 12-member group that debuted in 2018 after a colossal pre-debut project that started in 2016. On November 25th 2022, Chuu was suddenly “expelled” from the group due to “violent language and misuse of power.” Following the shocking event, on November 28th, 9 out of 11 remaining members filed for injunctions to terminate their exclusive contracts with their agency.
