(G)I-DLE’s “TOMBOY” selected the most commercially successful K-pop song of 2022 by TIME

With the hit song “TOMBOY” being praised by foreign media TIME, (G)I-DLE certified their global influence.

The U.S media TIME published “The Best K-Pop Songs and Albums of 2022” on December 13th. In particular, (G)I-DLE’s “I NEVER DIE” was named among the best albums.

TIME said, “Though ‘TOMBOY’ was one of the most commercially successful K-pop songs of 2022, the album it belongs to, ‘I NEVER DIE’, deserves its own recognition”.

The message delivered through this album was also highly evaluated. The media said, “(G)I-DLE impresses not just with performance but with production. While the group begins to challenge stereotypes in the lead single ‘Tomboy’, where they refuse to become a ‘blond barbie doll’ to meet societal standards, (G)I-DLE builds upon the rebellious energy in the tracks that follow.”

(G)I-DLE achieved various records this year. After “TOMBOY” made such a big hit, the follow-up album “I love” was also greatly loved by music fans all over the world. They topped iTunes Top Album in 40 countries and regions worldwide.

The girl group surpassed 678,000 copies in initial sales, recording a whopping 284% growth rate. In addition, (G)I-DLE entered the U.S. Billboard Main Chart “Billboard 200” at No.71 and won 11 awards on music shows in Korea.

Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE will hold the fanmeeting ‘(G)I-DLE OFFICIAL FAN CLUB NEVERLAND 3RD FAN MEETING’ at SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium on the 28th and 29th of January 2023.
