On Jan 23rd, according to Star News, the girl behind “Chonky Cat,” who recently voluntarily dropped out of Kakao Entertainment’s virtual idol survival “Girl’s RE:VERSE” for health reasons, was confirmed to be Olivia Hye, a member of LOONA.

Chonky Cat was one of 30 participants in the survival program “Girl’s RE:VERSE.” Olivia Hye, who starred as Chonky Cat, will not release her separate identity and interview videos after she voluntarily drops out.

Olivia Hye started the competition in 12th place in her own evaluation among 30 K-pop girl group participants in “Girl’s RE:VERSE,” which was first released on Jan 2nd. She finished 7th in the preliminary round on Jan 17th, where only 15 survived. However, she suddenly dropped out, causing regret. Olivia Hye has always been at the top of the game, showing her possibility of becoming a member of the winning five-member girl group of “Girl’s RE:VERSE.”

On Jan 21st, the production team of “Girl’s RE:VERSE” said, “Chonky Cat has stopped challenging at W (the metaverse space of ‘Girl’s RE:VERSE’) for health reasons and has returned to her hometown, Planet of the Cats. We would like to express our gratitude to Chonky Cat for doing her best so far, and we hope you can show Chonky Cat lots of support in the future.

After seeing the announcement, fans expressed their regret and worry for Chonky Cat’s departure. Some speculated that Olivia Hye may be experiencing difficulties mentally after losing the lawsuit to suspend the validity of her exclusive contract against her agency Blockberry Creative.

Earlier, members of LOONA, excluding Vivi and Hyun Jin, filed an injunction against Blockberry Creative to terminate the effect of their exclusive contract.

On Jan 13th, the Civil Affairs Division 1 of the Seoul Northern District Court (Chief Judge Jeong Moon Sung) ruled in favor of 4 LOONA members, including Hee Jin, Kim Lip, Jin Soul, and Choerry, which means they can work in the entertainment industry separately from their former agency Blockberry. However, Ha Seul, Yeo Jin, Yves, Go Won, and Olivia Hye, who lost, must follow their previous contracts at Blockberry Creative.
