ELLE Taiwan recently met and conducted an interview with BLACKPINK’s Lisa for its 2024 cover.
During the interview, Lisa talked about the growth and records she has achieved over the past seven years as a member of BLACKPINK, her chemistry with the members, behind-the-scenes anecdotes of their world tour, and stories about human Lisa, not top star Lisa.
Regarding the atmosphere between BLACKPINK members, Lisa said, “Since BLACKPINK does not have a leader, four members can freely express our own opinions. If anyone wants to take responsibility for anything, they can give their own opinion or make recommendations if they think other members will do it better. I can talk to the members comfortably and they also take good care of me”.
She added, “Everyone can actively suggest what performance they want to prepare, including stage composition, like how the stage life goes up and down or how the lights shine, etc.”, adding “At the Coachella Festival last year, there were stages were we used large fans and the members decorated the stage in the colors they wanted. When deciding on the setlist, we divided it into four parts with each member being responsible for one section, creating a fun and special experience”.
As Lisa was busy with BLACKPINK world tour last year, she confessed that she wanted to spend more time with her family and meditate these days. She shared, “I want to learn a language, especially French”, making people think of her rumored chaebol boyfriend Frédéric Arnault, the son of LVMH Group Chairman.
Rumors of Lisa and Frédéric Arnault’s romance have been circulating for a long time after several witnesses in Paris, the US, and Italy, but neither of them made an official position about their relationship. The LVMH son and his family came to watch Lisa’s 19+ Crazy Horse cabaret show, and Lisa even spent her vacation with Frédéric’s family.
However, Lisa explained, “The biggest reason I want to learn French is that my nephew cannot speak Thai and can barely speak French”.
Lisa left YG Entertainment to do solo activities on her own. BLACKPINK members agreed to renew only group contracts under YG. Lisa is said to be pushing ahead with her individual activities overseas. Jisoo and Jennie set up private agencies, while Rosé has not yet announced her future plans.
