Actor Lee Yi-kyung is once again at the center of controversy after a woman who previously admitted to fabricating private messages with him has changed her statement.

The woman, identified as A, recently took to social media to declare, “I’m considering releasing proof photos. It’s unfair to end things like this. The AI explanation is not true,” claiming she had been wrongly portrayed as the perpetrator. She added, “They turned a bad person into a victim. I was never sued.”

The rumors surrounding Lee Yi-kyung began on October 19, when A uploaded a series of explicit text message exchanges on her blog, allegedly between herself and the actor. The messages contained vulgar language and requests for intimate photos, sparking widespread outrage online. The post also included on-set photos and selfies of Lee Yi-kyung, intensifying suspicions.

As the post spread rapidly, Lee Yi-kyung’s agency announced it would take strong legal action against the individual spreading the rumors. A soon responded by promising to reveal more evidence, but on October 22, she reversed her claims and issued an apology.

At the time, A stated, “It started as a joke, and I never expected it to gain so much attention. While using AI-generated images, I began to believe it myself. I sincerely apologize to actor Lee Yi-kyung for spreading such harmful rumors.”

However, despite her public apology, the controversy reignited after A’s latest social media statement denying the AI fabrication.

On November 3, Lee Yi-kyung’s agency, Sangyoung ENT, reaffirmed its stance, saying, “We have filed a defamation complaint against the individual who created and circulated the rumors. There has been no settlement or financial agreement.”

Following the scandal, Lee Yi-kyung withdrew from MBC’s variety show “Hangout With Yoo” and was dropped from his upcoming role as MC for KBS2’s “The Return of Superman.”

With A now hinting at releasing so-called “verification photos,” public attention is once again focused on Lee Yi-kyung’s response and how the situation will unfold.
