“Dr. Brain Season 2”, starring Lee Sun-kyun, has failed to be produced
According to several officials on November 2nd, the production of Apple TV+’s series “Dr. Brain Season 2” was discussed last year but the production team has suspended the plan.
However, the production suspension has nothing to do with Lee Sun-kyun’s recent drug scandal. Some people speculated that the delay in Season 2 production was the aftermath of the drug incident, however, the production process has actually stopped in the script-writing stage.
An official explained, “The US and Korean production teams had been exchanging scripts, writing and revising them many times but couldn’t agree on a satisfying result. In the end, the production is suspended”, adding “Apple TV+ is not very active in producing original Korean content”.
“Dr. Brain” is a sci-fi thriller series about Go Se-won (Lee Sun-kyun), a scientist with a genius brain whose family becomes victim of a mysterious accident and suffers a terrible tragedy. Released in November 2021, it is the first Korean original content produced by Apple TV+.
Meanwhile, Lee Sun-kyun was recently booked by the police on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. He will appear at the police for the second questioning on November 4th. At the first police investigation, the actor said, “I’m sorry for causing concerns”, adding “I will faithfully cooperate with the investigation”.
