Lee Soon-jae replaces “sexual misconduct charges” O Yeong-su in “About Family”

On Feb 5th, a Lotte Entertainment official told OSEN, “Actor O Yeong-su will step down from ‘About Family’. Actor Lee Soon-jae will replace him in the role.”

“About Family” is a new work directed by Yang Woo-seok, known for films such as “The Attorney” and “Steel Rain”. Actors Kim Yoon-seok and Lee Seung-gi will star in it. O Yeong-su, who gained attention for his role in Netflix’s original series “Squid Game”, was also supposed to join the cast. However, he was replaced by Lee Soon-jae due to allegations of sexual misconduct.

O Yeong-su was indicted in November 2022 on charges of inappropriate physical contact with a woman, referred to as A, back in 2017. A filed a complaint against Oh Young-soo in 2021, but the police decided not to forward the case. Subsequently, A appealed, leading to the prosecution reinvestigating the case and deciding to press charges.

In a recent trial held at the Suwon District Court’s Seongnam Branch, Prosecutor Jung Yeon-joo requested a one-year prison sentence for O Yeong-su. However, in his final statement, O Yeong-su expressed, “It’s so difficult and painful to stand in court. It’s devastating to see my life end in this situation, and I feel like my whole life is falling apart. I hope for a wise judgment.

The verdict for O Yeong-su’s sexual misconduct case is scheduled to be announced on March 15th.
