Lee Se-young on “Radio Star”, “The reason why Seong Deok-im is loved a lot? She’s not like a woman of the Joseon Dynasty”
Actress Lee Se-young talked about the reason why her character “Sung Deok-im” received huge love.
The broadcast of MBC’s “Radio Star” aired on January 26th featured “The Red Sleeve” actors, who came on the show to keep their viewership promise after surpassing the target and reaching the peak rating of 17.4%. Cast members, including 2PM Lee Jun-ho, Lee Se-young, Jang Hye-jin, Oh Dae-hwan, Kang Hoon and Lee Min-ji appeared together.
On this day, actress Lee Se-young surprised everyone as she revisited “Radio Star” for the first time after 10 years. In fact, Lee Se-young once joined the special broadcast for child actors in 2012.
Lee Se-young smiled and shared, “I was the oldest back then, but now I’m the youngest”.
Lee Se-young then talked about the reason why her character, Seong Deok-im, has been loved a lot by the viewers. The actress said, “She’s a woman of the Joseon Dynasty. But even when the king confessed and offered her to become his concubine twice, she refused and has never expressed her emotions for the king. She talked about things that would never happen in the future, and would say nothing even if a knife is on her throat”.
Lee Se-young explained, “She’s very independent, and she decides how she wants to live by making her own choices. I think the viewers understand the character and sympathize with her a lot.”
