Following Kim Tae Hee, Lee Byung Hun, Kwon Sang Woo… Lee Min Ho also paid a fine of hundreds of millions of won in taxes
Lee Min Ho’s agency denied the allegation that the actor was fined by the National Tax Service for tax evasion.
On March 2nd, Aju News reported that the National Tax Service conducted a special tax audit on Lee Min Ho and MYM Entertainment in 2020 and fined them hundreds of millions of won.
The media said, “According to tax experts, the disposition of additional charges through a special tax audit usually includes tax evasion”.
In this regard, MYM Entertainment said, “Lee Min Ho has faithfully paid all the taxes. There has never been any unsavory action”. They explained, “The mentioned issue occurred due to a difference in interpretation of whether the compensation for the use of our artist’s illegal portraits rights that our company received is subject to taxation. It’s an amount of additional taxes incurred after a correction of an accounting error in the process of handling the company’s expenses. We already faithfully paid it.”
Earlier, the National Tax Service conducted a tax investigation on 84 people, including celebrities, athletes, webtoon writers, Youtubers, and platform operators. In addition to Lee Min Ho, Lee Byung Hun, Kwon Sang Woo, and Kim Tae Hee were also fined. The actors admitted that they were fined, but denied all the tax evasion allegations.
