Lee Ji Ah lost 6kg and changed her image drastically to challenge the role of a killer in new drama

Lee Ji Ah talked about her 6kg weight loss and image transformation for her role as a killer in tvN’s new drama, “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise.”

The press conference for tvN’s new Sat-Sun drama “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” was broadcasted live online at 2 p.m. on March 7th. Director Choi Young Hoon together with the cast, including Lee Ji Ah, Lee Sang Yoon, Jang Hee Jin, Park Ki Woong, and Bong Tae Kyu, attended the event.

 “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” is a revenge drama that begins when a woman who lives a life that everyone envies recovers her lost memories from the past and seeks revenge against the forces that manipulated her fate.

Taking on the role of killer Hong Tae Ra, who faces the shocking past unlocked from her sealed memories and takes revenge, Lee Ji Ah shared, “I actually love action acting. That’s why I was very excited when I got cast for the role”, adding “On the set, both the main director and martial arts director prepared well to ensure that the actors wouldn’t get hurt. Thanks to them, I was able to enjoy the filming without any worries”.

Regarding her efforts to play her character this time, the actress explained, “Since Hong Tae Ra is a killer trained with murder weapons, I exercised to make my body strong and sturdy”, adding “As a result, I lost about 5-6kg compared to when I filmed ‘Penthouse.’ I wanted to perform action scenes with a slightly slimmer and more agile body. I’m very curious about how it will turn out on the drama”.

As for difficulties, Lee Ji Ah confessed, “There’s a sense of betrayal that my character feels as she gets back her memories after losing them. Since my emotions need to intensify gradually, I tried to focus on that aspect”.

tvN’s new Sat-Sun series “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” premieres at 9:10 p.m. on the 11th.
