Lee Je-hoon Introduces New Drama “Chief Detective 1958”, Already Expected To Take MBC Daesang?

On January 4th, the production team of “Chief Detective 1958” released a trailer video. It is a Korean investigation drama and the prequel to “Chief Inspector”. The story begins when Detective Park Young-han (Lee Je-hoon) is transferred to the Seoul office in 1958. It revolves around Park Young-han, a detective specializing in catching petty thieves, teaming up with three colleagues to break down the absurdities of corrupt power with common sense and being reborn as a detective for the people.

The trailer begins with Park Young-han’s confident self-introduction as he just moved from Hwangcheon to Seoul. He is known as a passionate detective who sweeps all the criminals in gambling halls and markets worthy of the name “No.1 arrest rate for small thieves in Gyeonggi”.

However, the investigation in Seoul is not easy in 1958, when the dark era began. There are various crises, such as murders, car explosions, gun fights, etc., that frustrate Park Young-han and his colleagues and even make them cry.

Nevertheless, Park Young-han’s determination when saying, “There are only two things we need to remember. Protect the weak and beat the bad guys”, makes viewers look forward to his enthusiastic performances. The title “Legendary Detectives, they’ve returned” with the signature music of “Chief Inspector” already raises the tension. With the appearance of Park Young-han, Kim Sang-sun (Lee Dong-hwi), Cho Kyung-hwan (Choi Woo-sung), and Seo Ho-jeong (Yoon Hyun-soo), fans are curious about what special investigation they will present with their amazing teamwork.

Lee Je-hoon plays the role of legendary Detective Park Young-han. As an impregnable detective who absolutely believes in causal retribution, Lee fights hard, angry at the reality that tramples on human dignity. He is a “My Way” detective with only grit and venom. When he gets tired of the reality tainted by corruption, he meets another detective, Kim Sang-sun, which marks a turning point in his life.

Cho Kyung-hwan, played by Choi Woo-sung, is an ace detective with extraordinary power at Jongnam Police Station.

“Chief Detective 1958” is scheduled to air in 2024.
