Lee Gikwang shed tears over a fan’s sincere feelings
Soloist and Highlight member Lee Gikwang was moved to tears by a fan's words at a fan meeting.
On May 1st, a video from Lee Gikwang’s fan signing event for his latest album, “Predator”, which was held on April 30th, was uploaded to the YouTube channel “MELTING PLANET”.
The video features Lee Gikwang engaging in a conversation with a female fan at the fan signing event. At the time, the fan opened up to Lee Gikwang, saying, “As time goes by, I’ve been thinking about how long I can like you like this, and how long I can keep seeing you like this.”
She continued, “So I’m a bit worried about whether you’ll remember me. In fact, I think the relationship between a celebrity and a fan is quite cold and meaningless…if either of us let go, it just ends…”
The fan also added, “I can see you anytime when you’re active (in the media), but if a fan you often see disappears, wouldn’t you be curious without any way to know? And I thought that could make you feel lonely.”
As he listened to the fan, Lee Gikwang seemed to be moved, his eyes welling up with tears. Meanwhile, the fan went on to say, “When I was young, I used to use words like ‘forever’ and ‘always’ easily. But now I’m also worn down by the world and I don’t use those words anymore. There were really many moments during the ‘Predator’ activities where I wanted to tell you ‘forever’. I thought I wanted to be one of the fans who wouldn’t make you feel lonely. So I hope you always receive overflowing love, and always stay healthy and happy.”
Upon hearing the fan’s words, Lee Gikwang, whose eyes were filled with tears, said, “Thank you for your kind words. I’m very moved. I also sympathize with what you said and I’m very moved by it. I have more to say but…”
As the fan had to leave due to time constraints, Lee Gikwang tried to hold back tears and said, “I’m so moved…”
In addition, immediately after the video was uploaded, Lee Gikwang himself left a comment on his official Twitter account, saying, “Your kind words made me feel loved. I was very moved. I’m so grateful and I love you.”
Other netizens who saw the video reacted passionately and left comments such as, “If I were Lee Gikwang, I would have cried”, “This is really touching”, “This is what a real fan is”, “A great fan and celebrity”, and “I’m tearing up. The sincerity is so heartwarming.”
Lee Gikwang debuted as a solo singer under the stage name AJ in 2009, and later joined the idol group BEAST. In 2017, he resumed his activities in Highlight with fellow BEAST members.
