Lee Do Hyun Shares Heartfelt Letter Ahead of Military Enlistment: “I Won’t Cry, Will Return as a Cooler Actor”
Lee Do Hyun expressed his feelings in a handwritten letter just one week before his military enlistment.
On August 7th, a post appeared on Lee Do Hyun’s official fan cafe, starting with the words, “Hello. To all the fans who support and love me, this is Lee Do Hyun.“
Lee Do Hyun said, “I started writing this letter at home before the fan meeting, which I prepared to show my gratitude for the love you have all given me. I hope I’ve finished it well.“
He continued, “From the moment I started dreaming of becoming an actor to becoming the Lee Do Hyun I am now, I feel like I’ve received so much overwhelming love that I couldn’t even imagine. Even though I am still lacking, thank you for making me enjoy acting more and helping me stand firm by my side.“
He went on, “I remember the me from yesterday who dreamed of acting, dreaming of shooting scenes, attending award ceremonies, receiving awards, meeting fans in person, communicating, and holding fan meetings. Those dreams that I only dreamed about are coming true one by one, and I still can’t believe it.“
He said, “The Lee Do Hyun of today exists because of the infinite support, love, and encouragement from all of you fans. Thanks to all of you, I have been able to act diligently up until now. I may not have achieved perfect acting, but even for the embarrassing moments, you love me, embrace me, and support me with each small gesture. I’m truly grateful for the immense strength I receive from every one of you.“
He continued, “Now I’m about to enter the military. I will go and return as a cooler person, a healthier individual, and become a better actor. I will adapt well in the military, train diligently, and reappear as a more refined version of myself. Please look forward to it,” revealing his brave mindset about enlisting.
Finally, he concluded, “I worry and love you as much as you worry and love me. So always, every time, take care of your mental and physical health. Health is the most important thing. Once again, I sincerely thank you and love you all. Please only be happy!“
On the other hand, Lee Do Hyun will enlist at the recruit training center on August 14th. After completing basic military training, he will fulfill his duty in the Air Force Band. On August 5th, he held his debut fan meeting ‘2023 Lee Do Hyun Fan Meeting: Beginning’ in Seoul, where he met with fans before his enlistment.

“Hello. To all the fans who support and love me, this is Lee Do Hyun.
I’m writing this letter at home before the fan meeting, which I prepared as a way to repay the love you’ve shown me. I’m not sure if I’ve finished it well, but please, I hope it’s a good ending.
Well… Everyone!! Since I started acting until becoming the Lee Do Hyun I am now, I’ve received so much overwhelming love that I couldn’t have even imagined. Even though I feel like I’m lacking, thank you for making me enjoy acting more and helping me stay strong by my side.
From the moment I dreamed of becoming an actor, dreaming of shooting scenes, attending award ceremonies, receiving awards, meeting fans in person, communicating, and holding fan meetings, yesterday’s me comes to mind. It’s still hard to believe that the dreams I’ve only dreamt about are coming true one by one.
The current me, Lee Do Hyun, is not here solely because of my efforts. Many people, the company, CEO, directors, manager, senior and junior actors, played a part, but above all, it’s thanks to the endless support, love, and encouragement from all of you fans.
Coffee trucks sent to the set to keep me from getting tired, fans I coincidentally meet on the street while filming, the words of those fans, the words in the comments, each and every one of those words has become a great source of strength like an oasis in the desert!! Thanks to all of you, I’ve been able to act diligently up until now. Even though I haven’t presented perfect acting, you still love and support me, even embrace my embarrassing moments. Each small gesture of yours gives me immense strength to keep going.
I wonder when I’ll ever receive this much love again in my lifetime. So that you can confidently say that you’re my fan wherever you go, I will continue to grow as a better actor, with better acting, and become a better person. Honestly, I’m not sure how to repay such overwhelming love yet, but I will make sure to repay each and every one of them, step by step.
When I used to imagine the moment of a fan meeting, tears would come to my eyes, and I’d feel overwhelmed even by the mere thought. But right now, as I write this letter, I’m saying I won’t cry, but honestly, I can’t guarantee that. Still, even though it’s our first meeting, I want to show you a smiling face. I’ll try my best to hold back my emotions. Fortunately, I’m not showing you this as a poorly written, messy, and unorganized letter, but rather, I’m sharing my thoughts with you. I’m sorry. I’ll practice my handwriting a bit more.
Oh, and I need to mention this. I’ll be enlisting in the military soon. When I come back, I’ll return as a better version of myself, a healthier person, and transform into a cooler actor. I’ll adapt well in the military, train diligently, and reappear as a more refined version of myself. Please look forward to it!!
