Lee Do Hyun expresses gratitude to Song Hye Kyo and IU, confesses about his developmentally disabled brother and gift to his parents
Lee Do Hyun recently opened up about his journey in the industry, his relationships with fellow actors, and his family.
Lee Do Hyun has been recently revealed to be the number one casting choice for male actors in their 20s following the success of “The Glory”.
During his recent appearance on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” Lee Do Hyun shared his experience behind the casting process, his interactions with “The Glory” writer Kim Eun Sook, and his drama co-stars Song Hye Kyo and IU.
When asked about his thoughts on being the top casting choice for young male actors, Lee Do Hyun replied, “I’m not sure if I’m that popular, but I am getting a lot of offers.”
He went on to reveal his initial concerns when he was first offered a role in a Kim Eun Sook drama, but how the writer encouraged him and gave him confidence. He also expressed his gratitude towards Song Hye Kyo, his co-star in “The Glory,” for her support and help in making him feel comfortable on set.
Lee Do Hyun also worked with IU on the drama “Hotel Del Luna,” where he sought her advice and was grateful for her encouragement. IU told Lee Do Hyun to focus on his mindset and to believe that he will succeed. She said, “Only when you let go of my mind will you be able to act naturally and it will be a comfortable scene.”
Despite his success as an actor, Lee Do Hyun remains grounded and humble. He shared a story from his college days when he was the representative for the basketball team, and how he once stood up for his fellow classmates and got into trouble. He also talked about his desire to maintain his humility and not become arrogant.
Lee Do Hyun has a younger brother with developmental disabilities, whom he thinks about often. He said, “My younger brother is a little sick, so I should always set my initial commitment and act harder while watching him. He doesn’t have any friends, so my parents need to take care of him, but I would play with him for a long time after filming. He’s really cute, stubborn, likes to eat, and can’t lie. I hope people understand him and show him love.”
Last year, Lee Do Hyun gifted his parents a new home, which brought them much happiness. Lee Do Hyun said, “It’s still a rented house. My family lived in the same house for 20 years, so we moved to a bigger house with larger windows and better ventilation. My parents’ faces looked brighter, and they had fewer wrinkles. I remember my hands were shaking when I deposited a large sum of money in the middle of filming.”
In this episode of “You Quiz”, Lee Do Hyun heated up the scene by doing a “The Glory” kissing scene parody with Jo Se Ho.
