LE SSERAFIM’s Kazuha reveals she was inspired by BLACKPINK and BTS’s Jimin to perform as a K-pop idol

Kazuha’s desire to stand on stage comes from BLACKPINK and BTS’s Jimin.

Recently, in LE SSERAFIM’s interview with Weverse Magazine, Japanese member Kazuha, a former professional ballet dancer, opened up about her journey to become a K-pop idol. When asked which K-pop songs she enjoyed listening to, Kazuha talked about how she fell in love with BLACKPINK‘s music and K-pop in general.

“I fell in love with K-pop the moment I listened to BLACKPINK’s music for the first time. I happened to see the ‘Boombayah’ MV on YouTube and I still remember how amazed I was when I first watched it. I thought, ‘What is this whole new world?’ I saw BLACKPINK perform live at their Osaka concert as well.”

Kazuha also shared about how she got inspired to pursue K-pop while attending BLACKPINK’s concert, “When I saw their performance with my own eyes, I was so impressed and moved that I burst into tears. Up to that point, I had watched a lot of ballet performances, but BLACKPINK’s performance was cool in a completely different way from ballet. That’s when I thought I wanted to be on stage too. BLACKPINK members are all very pretty, cool, and charming, which made me feel like I wanted to be like them. Not the cute girl image, but a cool woman.”

When asked about her audition, Kazuha revealed that in addition to ballet, she submitted a dance cover video of BTS’s “Dynamite”. The female rookie idol mentioned BTS’s main dancer Jimin specifically, saying how stunned she was by Jimin’s dancing.

“There’s a dance break in Dynamite that’s really cool and I wanted to try to do it. I thought Jimin’s dancing was especially beautiful when I watched it. I was impressed to see someone who can balance classical dance with K-pop choreography so well. That’s what made me really interested in performing.”
