LE SSERAFIM surpassed BLACKPINK, highest first-day album sales among K-pop girl groups
LE SSERAFIM broke record for highest first-day album sales by K-pop girl group with their first full-length album "UNFORGIVEN".
According to Hanteo Chart on May 3rd, “UNFORGIVEN”, which was released offline the previous day, sold 1,024,034 copies on that day alone. There are 518,329 copies of the regular version, 388,498 copies of the compact version and 117,207 copies of the Weverse version. It became a million seller on the first day of release.
It is the first time that a K-pop girl group has sold more than 1 million copies on the day of release, ever since the 1.01 million copies set by BLACKPINK with their second full-length album “BORN PINK” last year. In particular, LE SSERAFIM sold 10,000 more copies than BLACKPINK’s “BORN PINK”.
Accordingly, LE SSERAFIM ranked fourth in terms of K-pop girl groups’ first-week album sales just one day after the release of the album.
Currently, BLACKPINK’s “BORN PINK” ranks first with 1.54 million copies, aespa’s second mini-album “Girls” ranks second with 1.12 million copies, and IVE’s first full-length album “I’ve IVE” ranks third with 1.1 million copies. If LE SSERAFIM continues their album sales momentum, there is a high possibility that their ranking will increase.
In particular, according to the agency Source Music, LE SSERAFIM, which released their first album on May 2nd last year, made remarkable achievements on their first debut anniversary.
In addition, LE SSERAFIM easily achieved two consecutive million sellers following the previous album “ANTIFRAGILE”, which was released in October last year. In particular, the number of 1,024,034 copies has more than doubled compared to the 408,833 copies sold on the first day of the second mini-album “ANTIFRAGILE”. It surpassed the first-week album sales of “ANTIFRAGILE” (567,673 copies) in just one day.
Along with this, LE SSERAFIM is also active on Korean and foreign music charts.
The title song “UNFORGIVEN” broke LE SSERAFIM’s own record for highest entry ranking on Korean music platforms Bugs, Melon and Genie. It ranked 2nd, 4th and 7th respectively on daily charts on May 1st. On Bugs, the b-side songs “Eve, Psyche & The Bluebeard’s wife”, “No-Return (Into the unknown)” and “FEARNOT (Between you, me and the lamppost)” entered daily charts.
“UNFORGIVEN” landed at No.71 on Spotify’s Daily Top Song Global on May 1st. Since its release at 6 PM on May 1st, the song has been played 1,559,340 times on Spotify alone.
In addition, “UNFORGIVEN” entered charts in 18 countries/regions, including No.2 on Daily Top Song Korea, No.6 in Singapore, No.11 in Taiwan, No.21 in Hong Kong and No.30 in Malaysia. In particular, in Korea and Singapore, all 7 new tracks from the album “UNFORGIVEN” were listed in the rankings.
On Spotify’s “Daily Top Artist” chart, LE SSERAFIM ranked 73rd globally, 3rd in Korea and 4th in Singapore. In particular, on the day of release, they entered the US’ “Daily Top Song” and “Daily Top Artist” at No.161 and No.123, respectively.
The music video for “UNFORGIVEN” surpassed 20 million views on YouTube at 9 PM the previous day, 27 hours after its release. At the same time, the music video and comeback show stage video ranked first and second among most popular videos on YouTube in Korea.
Meanwhile, “ANTIFRAGILE” landed at No.164 on “Billboard Global Excl. US” (week of May 6th) released by Billboard on May 2nd (local time). It has been staying on the chart for 28 consecutive weeks. The album “UNFORGIVEN” is expected to enter Billboard’s main album chart “Billboard 200” next week. Attention is focused on whether LE SSERAFIM will enter the main single chart “Hot 100”.
