Kris Wu Listed as Dangerous Gang R*pe Criminal

On January 23, Sohu reported that during the second trial of Kris Wu, the court reiterated three particular verdicts in 2023 which had been handled by the government. Among them, one notable case was Kris Wu’s “gang r*pe”. 

According to reports, on July 1, 2018, Kris Wu and others had a drinking party with two other women, followed by committing indecent acts while intoxicated at his residence.

From November to December 2020, Kris Wu exploited his fame and status to organize parties at his private residence. During these, he forcibly assaulted three girls, all of whom were intoxicated and unable to resist.

Kris Wu was accused of sexual assault by influencerl Du Meizhu in 2021. Subsequently, the police found evidence and arrested Kris Wu on July 31, 2021.

In the first trial held in November 2022, Kris Wu was sentenced to 13 years in prison and then deported from China for 10 years. However, Kris Wu’s side filed an appeal, arguing that the sentence for the male artist was undeserved but was unsuccessful.

Kris Wu’s case has shaken both domestic and international media for a long time. Before the accusations, Kris Wu was a top artist in China. The former EXO member was invited to participate in film projects by prominent directors, with the one of the highest salaries in China at that time.

When Kris Wu was arrested, netizens were shocked to learn about his appearance fee for a show. In particular, the male star would receiving around 12.3 million USD to film for around 20 days. 

At the same time, tax authorities discovered that from 2019 to 2020, Kris Wu evaded 95 million Chinese yuan (approx 13 million USD) in taxes by using fake business activities, false declarations, and concealing personal income.

As a result, Kris Wu had to pay a total fine of 600 million yuan (over 83.3 million USD).

Born in 1990, Kris Wu was once a member of the K-pop group EXO. However, he left the group soon after debut, returning to China to develop his career.
