“D.P” Koo Kyo-hwan and “Squid Game” Jung Ho-yeon won Best New Actor and Actress at the 1st Blue Dragon Series Awards 

The Rookie Awards for OTT drama and entertainment program casts at the 1st Blue Dragon Series Awards have been announced. 

The 1st Blue Dragon Series Awards was held at Paradise City, Incheon, Seoul on the evening of July 19th. This is the first award ceremony in Korea for dramas and entertainment programs produced or invested by Netflix, Disney+, seezn, Apple TV+, Watcha, wavve, Kakao TV, Coupang Play, and TVing. 

On this day, Koo Kyo-hwan was awarded Best New Actor for his performance in Netflix’s original series “D.P”. Receiving the award, Koo Kyo-hwan shared, “I will consider this Best New Actor as something to encourage myself to show new acting, and continue to work hard as if I were on my first date with the viewers.”

Squid Game” actress Jung Ho-yeon was called on the stage to receive Best New Actress. She said, “I think I still have a long way to go. I will go step by step. I want to thank the viewers for their huge support.”

In addition, EXO’s Kai of “New World” and Joo Hyun-young of “SNL Korea” won Best New Male/ Female Entertainers. 

Kai said, “I’ve been working as a singer for all my life then one day I joined a good program and enjoyed filming it. I think this award was given to me as an encouragement so that I can do better in the future. To the members and EXO-L (EXO’s fandom), thank you so much. I will continue to show more performances as an entertainer and also a singer”. Joo Hyun-young also expressed her gratitude, saying “I feel so grateful to be with seniors whom I had only seen on TV while learning acting. I was really afraid that I might disappoint them. I want to thank the seniors of my crew and the PDs for giving me a lot of support.”
