On October 3, attorney Go Sang Rok of Law Firm Pil revealed on his channel that Kim Soo Hyun wrote over 150 letters to his then-girlfriend throughout his service. “These letters are filled with gratitude, apologies, and affection for his girlfriend, as well as records of eagerly anticipating small dates during his leave,” he stated.

Go emphasized that the decision to disclose these letters was meant to prove that Kim Soo Hyun was wholly focused on his girlfriend at the time, leaving no space for any other emotional involvement. Addressing the phrase “I miss you” from a letter sent to the late Kim Sae Ron, he clarified: “It was nothing more than a common phrase soldiers often use with acquaintances outside the military. It was not an expression of romantic interest or proof of a relationship. When read in full, the letter simply resembles a soldier sharing military life updates with a civilian acquaintance, ending with a casual ‘let’s meet sometime on leave.’”
Go also addressed Kim Sae Ron’s visit to Kim Soo Hyun’s home during his leave. He explained, “The house in question belonged to Kim Soo Hyun and was also occupied by his older brother, who is both his family member and agency CEO. As noted in the letters, there was no prior mention of the visit, proving it was an unplanned, natural occurrence. His brother was present as always.”

Finally, the attorney stressed: “The relationship between Kim Soo Hyun and the late Kim Sae Ron was nothing more than ordinary interaction as fellow entertainers.”
Earlier this year, Kim Soo Hyun faced allegations of having dated Kim Sae Ron when she was underage. While he strongly denied dating her as a minor, he later admitted to a relationship after she became an adult. As controversies persisted, Kim Soo Hyun filed a damages lawsuit worth 12 billion won against the late actress’s family and the YouTuber who spread the claims.
