Actor Kim Soo-hyun is preparing to return to the entertainment industry after more than a year away from public activities, but a high-profile damages lawsuit against him has been delayed once again.
According to legal sources on June 20, the fourth hearing in a ₩3.9 billion (approximately $2.8 million USD) damages lawsuit filed by health supplement company FromBIO against Kim Soo-hyun and his agency Gold Medalist has been postponed. The case will now be heard on August 19 instead of the originally scheduled July 22 date.

The lawsuit is being handled by the 14th Civil Division of the Suwon District Court. While the court ordered the postponement, the specific reason for the schedule change was not disclosed publicly.
During the third hearing held on June 10, the court reportedly concluded proceedings in just five minutes after stating that it needed further clarification regarding the specific actions allegedly constituting a violation of the actor’s obligation to maintain conduct befitting a public figure and advertising model.
FromBIO filed the lawsuit in May 2025 following the emergence of allegations concerning Kim Soo-hyun’s private life. The company argued that the controversy damaged its brand image and sought compensation from both the actor and his agency.

The dispute stems from allegations that surfaced in March 2025, which led to significant fallout for Kim Soo-hyun. Several brands reportedly ended or suspended advertising relationships with the actor as public scrutiny intensified. As a result, Kim Soo-hyun largely halted his entertainment activities for more than a year.
Kim Soo-hyun’s side has consistently denied wrongdoing and has pursued legal action against individuals involved in spreading the allegations. His representatives have stated that legal proceedings remain ongoing against those responsible for making and distributing the claims. The actor has maintained that the accusations were false and damaging to his reputation.
Despite the ongoing civil lawsuit, Kim Soo-hyun is preparing to officially resume his career next month. Gold Medalist confirmed that the actor will participate in a print advertising campaign for Philippine fashion brand BENCH on July 14. The photoshoot will mark his first major public activity since stepping back from the spotlight and is widely viewed as the beginning of his return to both acting and endorsement work.

The upcoming advertising campaign has attracted considerable attention within the entertainment industry, as it could signal whether Kim Soo-hyun is ready to fully restore his career after a lengthy hiatus. While the outcome of the ₩3.9 billion lawsuit remains unresolved, many observers are closely watching how audiences and brands respond to the actor’s return.
With his legal battle still ongoing and a comeback now officially scheduled, the coming months are expected to be a pivotal period in Kim Soo-hyun’s career.
