Kim Soo-hyun “Hiatus as if going to the military + Experience living with in-laws in ‘Queen of Tears'”
"Queen of Tears" Kim Soo-hyun shared his thoughts on his comeback
On the morning of March 7th, the press conference for tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Queen of Tears” (written by Park Ji-eun, directed by Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won) was held at the Ramada Seoul Sindorim Hotel in Guro-gu, Seoul. Director Jang Young-woo, director Kim Hee-won, actors Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Ji-won, Park Sung-hoon, Kwak Dong-yeon and Lee Joo-bin attended the event.
Kim Soo-hyun took on the role of Baek Hyun-woo, the legal director of Queens Group born in the rural area of Yongdu-ri. Kim Soo-hyun returns to tvN after four years since “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” (2020). Particularly, this marks his third collaboration with writer Park Ji-eun following “My Love from the Star” (2013) and “The Producers” (2015).
Kim Soo-hyun said, “It’s been three years since I last met you. I worked hard for a year filming a good work by writer Park Ji-eun. I hope for a lot of interest.”
Regarding the reason for returning with “Queen of Tears” after the hiatus, he shared, “I didn’t want to have a hiatus like going to the military. I was diligently looking for a project. In the meantime, I met ‘Queen of Tears’. Especially, it’s my first time playing a married couple. I wanted to experience and express living with in-laws. The character has various charms, so I wanted to blend delicacy, intelligence and patheticness in an interesting way, making people cry and laugh at the same time.”
“Queen of Tears” follows the dizzying crisis and miraculous rebirth of love between Hong Hae-in, the third-generation Queens Group chaebol and department store queen, and Baek Hyun-woo, the son of Yongdu-ri and supermarket prince.
“Queen of Tears” gathers attention with the collaboration of writer Park Ji-eun, who set a record for the highest viewership ratings in tvN drama history with “Crash Landing on You”, director Jang Young-woo of “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls” and director Kim Hee-won of “Vincenzo” and “Little Women”, along with trustworthy actors Kim Soo-hyun, Kim Ji-won, Park Sung-hoon, Kwak Dong-yeon and Lee Joo-bin.
“Queen of Tears” will premiere on Saturday, March 9th at 9:10 PM.
