Kim Se Jeong’s new K-drama records worst rating in history, the reason has to do with “Business Proposal”?

“Today’s Webtoon” – Kim Se Jeong’s project after “Business Proposal”, is not receiving positive response. 

Shortly after “Business Proposal” concluded, Kim Se Jeong makes her return to the small screen via the K-drama “Today’s Webtoon”, where she stars alongside Nam Yoon Soo, Choi Daniel, and more. Unfortunately, the series, which is expected to be yet another explosive success for Kim Se Jeong, didn’t live up to expectation. In fact, the viewership of “Today’s Webtoon” has been lower than ever – the telling of an unpopular work. 

Regarding this situation, many netizens believe that this failure is due to Kim Se Jeong making her return too soon after a megahit, leading to audiences still being obsessed with her image in “Business Proposal”. 

In addition, Kim Se Jeong’s character in “Business Proposal” and “Today’s Webtoon” is the same kind of passionate and bubbly, causing viewers to grow bored, especially with such a short gap between the 2 projects. 

In addition, Kim Se Jeong recently faced a controversy in Korea, leading to Korean viewers having a less positive view on the idol-actress. 

In particular, when Kim Se Jeong appeared alongside Nam Yoon Soo and Choi Daniel in a TV program, the actress shared that she ranks her personal relationship based on a “friendship pyramid”. Then, she promptly listed Nam Yoon Soo and Choi Daniel as “just acquaintances” and her former members in I.O.I in tier 2, causing netizens to be displeased. 

These may be reasons why “Today’s Webtoon” have seen constant declines in viewership, dropping almost half-fold from 4.1% in episode 1 to 2.2% in episode 8. 

“Today’s Webtoon” is an 16 episode drama which is set to conclude by September 17th.
