“Take off underwear and smell armpits”… A famous Japanese actor is continuing to work despite sex scandal

Japanese actor Teruyuki Kagawa is continuing his activities despite the controversy over sexual harassment.

Kagawa, a former Kabuki actor who is well-known through “Hanzawa Naoki” and “99.9 Criminal Lawyer: The Movie”, has recently been embroiled in a controversy over sexual harassment. The weekly Shukan Shincho magazine reported that Kagawa sexually harassed a hostess at a club in Ginza in 2019. The woman filed a civil lawsuit against the owner of the club, but the lawsuit was later withdrawn.

In the process, Kagawa engaged in indecent behaviors such as taking off the hostess’ dress and underwear, touching her chest as well as smelling her armpits, adding to the shock.

Regarding this, Kagawa said through his agency, “My inadequacy caused displeasure to the woman. I am sincerely reflecting on myself.”

With such a scandal that turned the archipelago upside down, it was inevitable that Kagawa’s image would be damaged, but his activities are not expected to be affected.

Currently, Kagawa is appearing on TBS’ “No Special Change”, NHK’s “Teruyuki Kagawa’s Insects are Amazing” and TV Asahi’s “Roppongi Class”. All of these broadcasting companies made it clear that they have no intention of replacing Kagawa despite his sex scandal. Kagawa plans to continue his activities without self-restraint, such as corporate advertisements.
