Kim Sae Ron claims financial struggles, yet hired lawyer from one of the top 10 law firms in Korea
Actress Kim Sae Ron mentioned her financial difficulties at the first trial for drunk-driving accident, but is backed by a large law firm.
On March 8th, the Seoul Central District Court held the first trial of Kim Sae Ron, who was indicted on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving). Here, Kim Sae Ron’s lawyer said, “The defendant is currently supporting her family as the eldest daughter, and her family is also struggling with financial difficulties after paying a large amount of compensation for damages.”
The prosecution demanded a fine of 20 million won from Kim Sae Ron, saying, “Kim Sae Ron’s blood alcohol level was over 0.2% and she tried to run away without taking any measures after driving under the influence.” In response, Kim Sae Ron made the closing argument, “This will never happen again. I’m really sorry and I’ll reflect on myself.”
After the trial, when asked about her recent status, Kim Sae Ron replied, “I’m working part-time.”
Although Kim Sae Ron mentioned her financial difficulties at the first trial, behind her was the representative lawyer of one of the “Top 10 law firms in Korea”.
According to New Daily on March 9th, Kim Sae Ron hired 2 law firms as her lawyers, one of which is a large law firm belonging to the Top 10 law firms in Korea.
Predecessor lawyer A, who is the representative lawyer of this law firm and a former chief prosecutor, took Kim Sae Ron’s case.
Predecessor lawyers are lawyers who previously held high-ranking positions in the prosecution or courts, and their fees are known to be much higher than those of ordinary lawyers.
This is quite different from the situation in which Kim Sae Ron appealed for leniency, saying that she is struggling with financial difficulties after paying a large amount of compensation for damages.
Kim Sae ron revealed her expensive house and foreign cars on past broadcasts. When appearing on tvN’s “On and Off” in 2020, she revealed that she lives in a luxurious apartment inside the Seoul Forest The Sharp, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. At that time, the sale price of this apartment reached 2.3 billion won. She also drove a luxury car worth 50 million won.
Kim Sae Ron debuted as a magazine model in 2001 and started her career as an actress through the 2009 film “A Brand New Life”. She seems to have amassed billions of won in assets by rising to stardom at once with the success of the 2010 movie “The Man from Nowhere”.

Earlier on May 18th last year, Kim Sae Ron caused an accident in which she crashed into guardrails, street trees and transformers while driving under the influence of alcohol near Hakdong Intersection in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Kim Sae Ron’s blood alcohol level was found to be 0.227%, enough for her license to be revoked.
