Kim Sae-ron, Lisa, Joshua: Stars with “no comment” on dating rumors
Amidst recent dating rumors stirring up the entertainment industry, some stars have chosen to remain silent without taking any particular stance on the matter
On March 24th, actress Kim Sae-ron stirred up a “self-made dating rumor” by posting a selfie with Kim Soo-hyun on her Instagram story.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun’s side stated, “The dating rumor is groundless. The intention behind Kim Sae-ron’s action is completely unclear.” However, on March 25th, Kim Sae-ron told My Daily, “I’m in the process of organizing a statement. I’ll deliver my stance as soon as it’s finalized.” Yet, on March 27th, she stated, “After much consideration, I believe staying silent might be more helpful. This isn’t an official statement, but I’ll make no comment.”
As Kim Sae-ron seems unlikely to issue any further statements, some speculate that she may have posted the photo “for the purpose of flaunting her relationship”. YouTuber Lee Jin-ho speculated that Kim Sae-ron might have posted the photo to showcase her friendship with Kim Soo-hyun, especially after he garnered attention through tvN’s drama “Queen of Tears”.
Similarly, BLACKPINK’s Lisa also attracted public attention last July due to dating rumors. At the time, Lisa was spotted with Frédéric Arnault, the son of LVMH’s chairman and CEO of luxury watch brand TAG Heuer, at a restaurant in Paris, France.
Furthermore, in February, Lisa was seen enjoying a vacation with Frédéric Arnault’s family on a beach in the United States.
While the dating rumors of the two attracted global attention, Lisa’s agency YG Entertainment did not make any statements regarding the rumors.
Last August, SEVENTEEN’s Joshua was also embroiled in dating rumors with a non-celebrity woman. At the time, evidence surfaced showing Joshua and the woman, referred to as A, wearing similar outfits and visiting the same places multiple times. Particularly, eyewitness accounts claiming to have seen A at SEVENTEEN’s concert further fueled the dating rumors.
Disappointed fans demanded an explanation from Joshua after the revelation that he invited his rumored girlfriend to the concert, but his agency Pledis Entertainment maintained silence.
In addition to these cases, there are stars who have chosen to neither confirm nor deny dating rumors, citing private life concerns. Recently, TWICE’s Jihyo and former national skeleton athlete Yun Sung-bin were involved in dating rumors, and both agencies stated that it’s difficult to confirm due to the privacy aspect.
Similarly, when reports emerged last June that MAMAMOO’s Hwasa had been in a five-year relationship with a businessman 12 years older than her, her agency P Nation stated that it’s difficult to confirm due to the privacy aspect.
